None of us will ever know what it was like to be the first human on the moon or to live a life in which the shadow of that feat hung over you for all your days. I have often thought about the sheer weight of the accomplishment that Neil Armstrong achieved and what that must have been like in the years afterwards. By all accounts Neil Armstrong shunned the rockstar status he achieved by being the first man to step onto the moon and tried to stay away from the hype of his achievement. He was sometimes perceived as grumpy because of this, and yet the personality behind this humility is probably one of the reasons he was chosen to lead the mission he did. It is easy to get romantic about the first walk on the moon or be a nay sayer for , but for today, let's just stop, celebrate a life well lived, and appreciate the bravery and actions of Neil Armstrong and what that has meant to mankind.
